They are also working with a few RDs on some upcoming priorities but will be engaging more RDs in the near future with a Race Directors Forum. This will be for a wide variety of RDs across the country. Please get in touch if you are interested in getting involved. Safety Committee After the great work that Caro and Victoria started, we are sad to lose Caro so soon, but thank her for the input she has given. It does mean that we have a vacancy, so if there is anyone who would like to head up the Safety Committee, please send applications / CV to [email protected] Victoria is still in place in a supporting role, and continuing with the work that Caro started, until we fill the vacancy. Welfare Committee David Pennington is currently researching what World OCR and EU OCR have as standards and guidelines that we can adapt or adopt. Club development Joanne Dulson-Cox will be approaching OCR teams to see if they’d like to become affiliated clubs and will be there to help them develop every step of the way. Membership / Insurance From an Insurance perspective, our Partnerships Commission are drawing up a tender so that we can find the best deal possible for athletes in the first instance, but also Coaches, Clubs, Officials, and Events companies in the future. If we pool our efforts here, then underwriters have a better opportunity to offer a good price. Membership will be available for purchase in November, when we’ll be in a position to offer basic membership that will start in January. Again, our Partnerships Commission will be working hard to find as many benefits as possible in that timeframe. If any company here has an offer that they could extend to our members, please get in touch with Claire. Technology Our membership platform is being developed and configured, and we’ll be testing it in the next few weeks. We are currently looking at functionality and integration opportunities to provide an integrated platform that doesn’t add an extra layer of complication, but actually brings information together, and makes processes easier. Development and Technical Commission Two things that drive participation in a sport are coaching and club development. Shaun has created a Coaching framework document which is freely available to anyone. We’ve put a call out for coaches, and also for training sites, so if you haven’t already responded, then please email [email protected] This commission is looking for funding to kick start the WOCR coach development level 1 pilot programme, which will be available partially via a learning management system in the future. This will be the start of how we develop clubs and coaches moving forward, and will include DBS, first aid, safeguarding and insurance tracking. Shaun and Dave are also planning to introduce the Officials/Marshals framework soon after the Coaching framework. Legal James Allen is now on board and is keeping a watchful eye on pretty much everything we are doing. He is offering advice along the way, which is invaluable to us. Partnerships Commission Claire and Dan are also very busy researching insurance options and securing membership benefits. They are also responsible for managing tender processes alongside the various stakeholders in UKOSF. Youth Commission Emma and Mark, as you know have enlisted Alf Powell to lead the Youth Committee, and the committee is just about complete now, so they will be allocated some collaboration space where they can work together virtually. Altogether, there are 11 representatives (4 place to fill) on the Youth Committee for the Junior Development Programme, and their first topic is race requirements for juniors. Emma and Mark are currently creating templates for Junior club progression, including Health and Safety, Coaching and Welfare. Initial steps are being taken to create a Junior league, and input into the Insurance Tender project is also ongoing. Para Commission We will be setting up a Para-Athlete Commission with guidance from World OCR. This is a reasonably new area to the UK, so if anyone has any input, please get in touch with Venessa. Lastly... If you’d like to get involved in any way, please get in touch with anyone on the team! Two things that drive participation in a sport are coaching and club development Our membership platform is being developed and configured, and we’ll be testing it in the next few weeks See you in the mud.
