We are a UK registered, member based, independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit, national federation that exists to represent the needs of the sport through athlete member representation and engagement. As a member of the Fédération Internationale de Sports d’Obstacles (FISO or World OCR) UKOSF complies with all FISO eligibility criteria and will remain a member in good standing as outlined in the FISO constitution and by-laws. UKOSF is seeking recognition of the UK sport and works with all stakeholders to promote the sport, a healthy lifestyle, peace and harmony. Mission The mission of UKOSF is to unite individual OCR Athletes, Event providers and OCR Clubs, to represent them and serve their needs throughout their lives and to promote sportsmanship. Purpose n to bring the OCR Athletes of the UK together and encourage sportsmanship throughout the United Kingdom n to represent and promote the interests of OCR Athletes. n to build an active regular membership. n to operate for charitable and educational purposes Our goals also include providing a route for athletes to compete at international and games competitions. This includes event safety, fairness, rankings, operations, medical standards, rule enforcement and comprehensive insurance at affordable rates. We have the following Commissions that are up and actively running, we arein the process of setting out their Terms and Regulations: n Development and Technical n Competitions and Safety – Safety Committee – Welfare Committee – Club Development n Youth Commission n Legal n Partnerships Commission In addition, the following Commissions are yet to become active, but are on their way: n Medical/Anti-doping n Finance Commission n Para-Athlete Commission We have spent the first two months setting up our structure and governance. The Commissions now are setting up their own consultations, just as you’ve seen with Emma Waring’s Youth Commission, so there is plenty of opportunity to be involved. Our structure follows that of World OCR and EU OCR, but with some adaptations for the UK. Each Commission is also in the process of setting up the paperwork that goes alongside it – Terms & Regulations for Commissions and Committees. We have a great PMO in Mark Poulter who is working with me to pull together our overall business plan, which we will share once complete. Communications Murray Stewart was the inspiration behind the success of the launch meeting in London on Sept 10th. He is helping us to raise the profile of the sport. Finance Commission We are interviewing for a Finance Chair/Treasurer and hope to fill this position very soon. Accounts will be released every year for all to view. We are looking to create revenue streams from membership, merchandise, events and from training eventually. We’re also looking at options to gain sponsorship in the future. To gain funding from Sport England, we have to be set up for 2 years and comply with their Code for Sports Governance, so we are using these guidelines to develop the Federation in the right way right from the start. Our goals also include providing a route for athletes to compete at international and games competitions UK Obstacle Sports Federation (UKOSF) is the National Governing Body for obstacle sports, disciplines and events in the United Kingdom
