They’ve been around the block a few times and know what works. The atmosphere, as cliché as it may sound, was, as expected, buzzing. The unmistakable “AROO” and “I AM A SPARTAN” coming from Spartan Phil and his racers in the distance doing his bit to warm up and get those runners raring to go both in the adult races as well as the kids waves too. The event village had a busy vibe to it. Some receiving pre or post-race massages, a tempting waft of hot food and freshly made coffee from the food and drink vendors circulating the area, this is as much a spectators event as well as a runners. T-shirt tent, bag drop, changing rooms, showers, food, drink, bar, merchandise tent, medal engraver, all you need literally in one place. That, plus the area that surrounds the village enables you to follow your friends or family over the final obstacles, offering you the perfect opportunity for that action photo if you’re the supporter. The weather wasn’t really on our side on arrival, it could have been a little less drizzly, I did put in a request for sunshine but I guess that memo never reached its destination! The weather wasn’t really on our side on arrival, it could have been a little less drizzly... ...I did put in a request for sunshine but I guess that memo never reached its destination! Today I welcome both of my boys to run with me for the very first time, something I’ve been looking forward to for a long time with excitement and I’m booming with pride to have them both with me.
