Obstacle Mud Runner - issue 15

24 RESET: WOLFPACK Lockdown adventures – The Wolfpack 100 Since 2016 together we have raised over £40K for charities including Big Change, Shelter and now FareShare. It has been a passion project and our way of saying thank you for the lives we are fortunate enough to live. It has relied upon the generosity of others and the willingness of the community to take on the challenges we set. THE WOLFPACK 100 The lack of obstacle events has left many of us seeking adventures in different ways. As a 2021 goal I had the idea to run 100K / 62.14 miles. I have always been fascinated with how the body can adapt to these types of endurance challenges. It would be my longest run ever and during my training I decided to go for a sub-10-hour attempt. One thing I have learned over the last few years is that growth happens when you push yourself outside your comfort zone, magic happens when you do it with others. Therefore we decided to create this as a virtual event with the aim of mimicking a real world event experience as much as possible. We picked the first full moon weekend (February 27th-28th) for the event so we were all taking part together. Participants could complete the challenge solo or as a team providing an inclusive way to push and motivate everyone. Of course there was bling, and we ordered personalised running numbers to give people the feeling that this was not just another training run. We also created groups on Facebook and WhatsApp so that everyone could support each other in the build up and during race weekend. WHO ARE FARESHARE? Most importantly we wanted to raise money for a good cause from the event. FareShare is a wonderful Who are the Wolfpack? Our pack is a family of four (James, Harsha, Miraya & Jayan Burton) that has grown to a small online community taking on different challenges while raising money for good causes.
