I now use this technique with all clients that not only want to identify food allergy or intolerances but also want to achieve optimum health and fat loss with us. So, what is it? Essentially it is where we eliminate all the toxins from our body and start again. Almost like a blank canvas or wiping the slate clean. We are resetting our body and then building up a nutritious foundation on which to base our continued healthy choices. I have 20 years of diet research under my belt, (Atkins, GI, South Beach, Zone, Weight Watchers, Slimming World, 5:2 diet, you name it I’ve researched it). Most diets are based on a quick fix, short-term solution. This is the exact opposite to our nutritional philosophy here at Unbreakable Fitness Coaching Systems. We want to help all our clients and athletes achieve great fat loss results that last, without compromising their health. Positive side effects include improvements in skin, hair, fingernails, mood, energy levels and digestion. If followed to a tee the average amount of weight lost during the first 21 days, combined with regular exercise could be as much as 5-10 pounds. NOTE: These are not medical claims in anyway and I’m not suggesting the diet as a replacement for medical advice. How Is It Good For Fat Loss? It starts off by detoxifying your body. Foods that we eat are often processed. When I say processed, I mean the food has been tampered with before it gets to you. Let’s take fruit and vegetables as an example. These have more than likely been sprayed with various fungicides, herbicides, pesticides and rodenticides... When you eat fruit and vegetables, it’s likely you’re eating some of these toxins too. Similarly, with animals, they are often stuffed full of growth hormones and antibiotics to bulk them up quicker for market day. You’re eating this also. Lastly, anything that’s been tinned, canned or packaged has been tampered with to preserve its lifespan. Anything with additives, preservatives, colourings, flavourings or emulsifiers are ingredients food manufacturers use to preserve the products lifespan and in short, your body won’t recognise them and store them as toxins. When your body (and liver) become overwhelmed by these toxins from your diet, it will ‘dump’, any toxic substances into your adipose tissue stores (fat) in order to reduce their circulation throughout the body. Not good huh! So that’s why we emphasize eating clean during the 21 days, you’ll start to look more toned, a healthier shape and more defined. We don’t suggest you cut out fruit, vegetables or meat but we’re simply saying, eat as fresh as possible, wash ALL fruit and veg and go organic wherever you can. You can get great deals from your local butcher so don’t think your supermarket is always cheaper because often it’s not. The Not So Positive Side Effects During The 21 Days. You may experience headaches, mood swings, extreme sweet cravings, spots and bad breath. Try not to worry during this period; this is usually a good sign that the toxins are leaving your body! Drink plenty of fresh water to flush out the toxins and try having some hot baths. This will help to sweat them out quicker. I promise the short term effects will be so worth it in the long-term. The 80/20 Diet Rule Once you have successfully detoxed then you can then follow my 80/20 diet rule which is where you eat healthily 80% of the week and the other 20% of the week you have a little bit more leverage with your diet. Be careful here though not to go back to how you used to eat as that doesn’t work remember? That’s why you needed to change habits in the first place. I like to include a couple of cheat meals in my week where I eat whatever I like (within reason) but I’m strict for the rest of the time. I’ve put together a basic eating plan on page 38. Why don’t you try it and see how you get on? Who knows, your picture might end up right here in the next issue!
